The Olmsted Historical Society operates the Frostville Museum which is located at the bottom of  Cedar Point Road in the Rocky River Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks. The museum consists of seven buildings, maintained and run by the Historical Society. The buildings include the Prechtel House (the only home original to this site), the Jenkins's Cabin, the Briggs' House, the Carpenter House, the General Store, the Display Barn and our newest building the Barton Road Church. The original structure dates back to the early 1800's. There is also an Events Barn with tables and a kitchen available to rent for gatherings. It can accommodate up 100 people.

The North Olmsted Historical Society was organized in 1960. In 1968, the decision was made to expand, and to include all the original Olmsted Township as the area of the Society's interest. Therefore the name was changed to the Olmsted Historical Society.

The name Frostville has historical significance in this part of the Western Reserve.
Dr. Elias Carrington Frost settled on Kennedy Ridge about 1819. He opened a post office in 1829. He called the postal station Frostville although it was within the township first called Lenox then named Olmsted. After the official name of the postal station was eventually changed to Olmsted, the Frostville designation of the surrounding area remained. It seemed appropriate to reclaim this early name when choosing a name for the museum complex.
